Express Entry - EE

Effective January 1, 2015, foreign nationals must receive an invitation from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) before they can apply under the above programs. The Express Entry system has eliminated the requirement to process applicants' first-come, first-served transactions. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) aims to process 80 percent of Express Entry applications within six months or less. Quebec's economic immigration programs are not administered by Express Entry.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) announced the long-awaited system for expressing interest in immigration, "Express Entry". This is great news for all skilled workers around the world who want to immigrate to Canada.

The new program includes several amendments to the Canadian immigration regulations, including fast processing times, the enrollment of many applicants from different fields, and an increased focus on the quality of applications submitted.

The Express Entry system is used by Citizenship and Immigration Canada to manage economic immigration applications submitted on or after January 1, 2015, for any of the programs below.

Invitation to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry draws

Citizenship and Immigration Canada regularly conducts raffles to invite the highest-ranked Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. Express Entry draws are conducted frequently and in numbers consistent with Citizenship and Immigration's ability to process applications and with annual target levels. The selection process may be general and include all programs (candidates with a high rating are selected regardless of the immigration program) and the selection process may be according to a specific program (candidates with a high rating within the CEC Canadian Experience Program)

The presence of an application in the pool of applications submitted under the Express Entry system does not guarantee that the applicant will receive an invitation to submit an ITA permanent residence application. Likewise, receiving an invitation to apply does not guarantee that an applicant will receive a positive decision on their application for permanent residence.

You must meet a minimum of CLB 7 in English, or a minimum of NCLC 7 for your first official language in all four language abilities. To obtain points for your second official language, you must meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark CLB 5 in each of the four language abilities.

 If you want to come to Canada as an immigrant with a specific skill under Express Entry, your current job and your past job experience should be in managerial jobs (NOC skill type 0), professional jobs (NOC skill type A), professional jobs (NOC skill type A), or technical jobs and business skills (National Occupational Classification NOC skill type B) to have your application included in the Express Entry system. You must have at least 12 months of full-time or part-time equivalent work experience. Total working time is equivalent to a minimum of 30 paid hours per week.

The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is a system used by the Canadian government to classify jobs (occupations). Jobs are grouped based on the type of work a person does and their job responsibilities. Many Canadian immigration programs make the decision about whether a job or type of work experience fits the criteria for that program. For example, if a person wants to apply to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker, they should check the National Occupational Classification (NOC) to determine which jobs fall into the “skilled” category (NOC skill type 0 or skill level A or B).
