Apply for a visitor visa to the United States of America

How to apply for a visitor visa to the United States of America:

There are several steps to applying for a visa, but the order of these steps and how to complete them may differ depending on the US embassy or consulate and we will put the embassy link at the bottom of the article

The first step:

Fill out your visa application online, by completing Form DS-160

The second step:

Print the application form confirmation page and bring it to your interview.

The third step:

Upload your photo while completing Form DS-160 online, and your photo must be in the format described in the photo requirements.

Image requirements:

Your digital photo must be:

For size: Head size between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inch (22 mm and 35 mm) or 50% and 69% of the total height of the image from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.

Taken within the past six months to reflect your current appearance.

It also has to be in front of a background.

Captured in full-face view facing the camera.

With a neutral facial expression and open eyes.

Taken in the clothes you normally wear.

You should not wear a formal dress in your photo, except for religious clothing that is worn daily.

Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline, unless it is worn daily for a religious purpose.

Your entire face should be visible, and the headscarf should not cast any shadows on your face.

Headphones, wireless hands-free devices, or similar items are not acceptable in your photo.

Spectacles are no longer allowed in new visa photos, except in rare cases when the glasses cannot be removed for medical reasons.

The fourth step:

It is the scheduling of the interview. Interviews are generally required for visa applicants with some limited exceptions such as being 13 and younger, or 80 and over.

Otherwise, you will be required to have an interview prior to obtaining the visa, as you must schedule an appointment for the visa interview at the US Embassy or Consulate in the country in which you live.

You may be scheduled to meet at another US embassy or consulate, but be aware that it may be difficult to qualify for a visa outside the country in which you live.

Wait times for interview appointments vary by location and visa category, so you should apply for your visa early.

Fifth step:

The non-refundable visa application fee is usually $160, and the fee can vary depending on your nationality.

So, specify your nationality by filling in the field here, and the required fees will be displayed from you.

Fifth step:

It collects the required documents before your visa interview, which are:

A valid passport for travel to the United States: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States.

Everyone who needs a visa must submit a separate application, including family members listed in your passport.

your picture.

Additional documents may be required as evidence of:

The purpose of your trip.

Your intent to leave the United States after your flight.

Your ability to pay all costs of the trip.

This may be enough evidence of your work or family ties to show the purpose of your trip and your intent to return to your home country.

If you cannot cover all the costs of your trip, you can show evidence that someone else will cover some or all of your trip costs.

Sixth step:

It is to attend your visa interview, where a consular officer will interview you to determine if you are eligible for a visitor visa.

During the interview you must prove that you meet the requirements under US law to obtain a visa.

After the visa is approved, you may need to pay the visa issuance fee (if applicable to your nationality), and arrange for the passport and visa to be returned to you.

Entering the USA:

A visa allows a foreign national to travel to a US port of entry (generally an airport) and request permission to enter the United States, as a visa does not guarantee entry into the United States.

Only Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at the port of entry have the authority to allow or deny you entry into the United States.

If you are allowed to enter the United States, the CBP official will provide a stamp of acceptance or a paper Form I-94, on which you will indicate the time of arrival and departure.

Extend your stay in the USA:

You can extend your stay in the United States by submitting an extension request, which you can find out by visiting the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website.

However, you must initiate an extension request before the end of your visit, as you will be considered out of the law, and your visa will be canceled and will not be valid for entry into the USA in the future.

change mode:

If your plans change while you are in the United States (for example, if you marry a US citizen or receive an offer of employment), you may be able to request a change of your non-immigrant status to another category through USCIS.

It is not necessary to apply for a new visa, but if you leave the United States, you must apply for a new visa at a US embassy or consulate in the appropriate category for your travel.

Important notes:

An individual on a visitor visa (B1/B2) is not permitted to accept employment or work in the United States.

There is no guarantee that you will get a visa.

Don't make final travel plans or buy tickets until you get a visa.

A valid US visa in an expired passport is still valid unless canceled.

If you have a valid visa in your expired passport, do not remove it from your expired passport.

You can use your valid visa in your expired passport with a new, valid passport for travel and entry into the United States.
